Missoula band Places performs at Concert for a Cause in downtown Billings.
This year’s Concert for a Cause, an annual benefit festival featuring local and regional bands, raised a little more than $2,000 in ticket sales and donated bar proceeds, according to event organizer Eric Grider. Bands from Billings, Missoula, and Rapid City, S.D. came together to raise money for two local organizations, the Meadowlark House and Art Without Boundaries.

At 54, folk musician and “hardcore troubadour” Steve Earle is just two years older than his mentor, teacher and 70s counterculture icon, Townes Van Zandt was when he died. To a sold-out audience in Sheridan, Wyo., on Saturday, Earle recalled tales of his past, conjuring up the image of Van Zandt through tales of their experiences, which began in the 1970s.
The Magic City Blues music festival lineup for 2010 has been announced, featuring the husband and wife duo Derek Trucks and Susan Tedeschi as the headliners on Friday evening and the rock/reggae/funk fusion band Michael Franti & Spearhead capping the festival on Saturday.
